    Course objectives

    Educational goals:
The course aims to teach the basic concepts on all forms of anesthesia both in the operating room and outpatient. The evaluation of the anesthesia risk and possible emergencies to be managed in ambulatory and the management of the anxious patient (seizures, hypertension, syncope, lipothymia) will be discussed. The aspects of the pathophysiology of pain and pain therapy will also be treated with particular regard to the acute and chronic pain disorders of the orofacial region. Pain control is a relevant part of non-surgical periodontal treatment, whether this is done by the hygienist or by a dentist supervisor. Procedures involving the dental hygienist must be completed with patient clinical, physical and psychological evaluation and with the administration of the informed consent to be read, understood and signed.
Practical exertions such as BLSD on manikin and airway management will be undertaken.

    Prerequisites

Prerequisites: The student to enter the Anesthesia and Resuscitation course must have passed the scheduled training (internship) of the first year of the course.

    Teaching methods

    Learning verification method:
    • Frontal lessons
    • Theoretical-practical exercises
