Obiettivi formativi | L’Ostetricia e Ginecologia ha caratteristiche del tutto particolari. In primo luogo è tra le specialità quella in cui Medico e cittadino si imbattono con maggior facilità (tutti hanno in famiglia “eventi” ostetrici quali parti, aborti..) da cui la frequenza di richiesta di pareri professionali. Quindi la particolarità unica dell’Ostetricia di subire influssi correlati a condizioni non scientifiche quali la situazione socio culturale, le mode, le convinzioni etico religiose. In Ostetricia inoltre non si assistono malati ma persone sane che tuttavia propongono intime e complesse situazioni, inusuali per il Medico Chirurgo. L’analisi, lo sviluppo e la riflessione su tali aspetti sono oggetto di parte non secondaria del programma didattico. |

Contents | The course aims to provide the basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the female genital apparatus and basics of pathology, in order to allow the general practitioner a direct intervention for prevention and/or treatment of the most common pathologies. The student will also develop the ability to refer to gynecologist for diagnosis and therapy of the most complex pathologies. To achieve these goals, the course includes a section of anatomy and physiology of the female genital apparatus, of pathophysiology of pregnancy and gynecology with specific section for diagnostics, treatment and prevention. |

Course objectives | The main purpose of the integrated course in Gynecology and Obstetrics is to make students able to frame the reproductive health of women and to propose obstetric and gynecological problems in relation to their general conditions and general medicine. The course will give the basics (in terms of prevention, diagnosis and treatment) in the field of pathophysiology, clinical and therapy of the female genital diseases and reproductive function in different stages of woman’s life (adolescence, childbearing age, pregnancy, post-menopause). The general practitioner will be able to identify the conditions that need the support of the specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, to identify the fundamental steps of the diagnostic and therapeutic pathways related to infertile couple and the family planning, to contribute to the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and tumors of the female genital system, to evaluate pregnancy diseases |

Course Syllabus | Female anatomy. Fertilization, implantation, placenta. Development of the fetus. Diagnosis of pregnancy, normal physiologic changes in pregnancy. Monitoring of the mother and fetus during pregnancy. Prenatal diagnosis. Labor factors (passage, passenger, power). Maternal or dynamics phenomena. Maternal-fetal or mechanical phenomena. Fetal or plastic phenomena. Vaginal delivery. Clinical management of first, second and third stage. Fetal monitoring. Preterm Labor and delivery. Premature rupture of membrane. Post-term pregnancy.
